3M Scotchcast resin is a two-part epoxy insulating and encapsulating resin that is used to splice solid dielectric and oil-filled cables up to 8 kV. Jacketing up to 69KV epoxy.  Flash point: 140ºC/300ºF or higher. It is included in the 3M 82 and 90-B1 series splice kits. Black Color.

3M Scotchcast 2104 compound in a Unipak container is a two-part, low-viscosity polyurethane for permanent splice protection. This resin is included in the multi-mold splicing kits.  Dark Green Color.

2104 is formulated for virtually every electrical application requiring hard, non-re-enterable resin with good handling and performance characteristics. 2104 is also used as the insulating material for cable splices operating at 1000 volts or less.

Rated for continuous use at 90ºC  overload rating of 130ºC  Gel time is 18 min. at 23ºC

3M Scotchcast 82-F and 82-BF Series Flexible Power Cable Splicing Kits are a series of flexible inline and tap splices for use on non-shielded portable power cables and cords. They are designed to be used on single and multiple conductor cables and cords rated up to 1000 Volts (600/2000 Volts mine portable cable rating). The 82-F Series will accommodate a single-conductor cable rated up to 5 kV. The splices will accommodate single-conductor cables sized up to 4/0 for inline splicing and up to 1/0 for tap splicing. Multi-conductor sizing is based on a cable diameter range of up to 1.2 inches for inline splicing and up to 0.8 inches for tap splicing.

The splice kits are based on Scotchcast 2130 Compound for toughness, flexibility, moisture sealing and flame retardancy. They are permanent splices as assigned by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (P-l42-5 MSHA). The completed splices are designed for use in weather exposed, direct burial or submerged locations.
 

Kit Contents:
Each kit contains sufficient quantities of the following materials to make one splice or cable repair (connectors are not included in kit):
- One-piece removable mold
- Scotchcast 2130 Compound in "Unipak" container
- Scotch 23 Tape, for sealing mold ends
- Abrasive cloth (80J grit)
- Comprehensive instructions showing proper installation techniques for splicing non-shielded portable power
cables and cords.

3M Scotchcast 2130 Electrical Insulating Resin is a special flame retardant, two-part, polyurethane resin
that is designed to replace the cable jacket when splicing or repairing mine and portable cables. Its unique formulation makes it particularly suited to withstand the rugged conditions under which mine and portable cables must operate. Scotchcast 2130 is also used as the insulating material for cable splices operating at 1000 volts or less and is rated for continuous use at 194ºF (90ºC) with an overload rating of 266ºF (130ºC).

Scotchcast 2130 is packaged in the convenient 3M two-part Unipak bag. The contents of the Unipak bag are:

2130B  Size B:  7.6 oz (216 gms)    10.7 cu. in. (175,3 cu. cm.)
2130C  Size C:  21.7 oz (616 gms)   30.5 cu. in. (500 cu. cm.)

Applications: To replace or repair the jacket on both single and multi-core power cables and particularly where flexibility is required. To insulate between the conductors of multi-core splices operating at 1000
volts or less. To seal the crotch or sheath when terminating multi-core cables.

Thoroughly clean and dry the surface of the substrate to which the material is desired to bond. In the case of  synthetic cable jackets, the resin must be poured immediately after the surface is prepared or a bond may not result. Remove the Unipak container from the envelope.

Premix the black side of the resin by squeezing to a smooth consistency before breaking the barrier. Firmly
grasp each flat side of the bag near the center barrier and at the same time pull sides of the barrier apart and roll sides of thumbs through the barrier. Break the barrier all the way across to the side seals. Alternately squeeze each end of the bag forcing the resin back and forth. Strip the resin from the corners of the bag.
Mix until the color is completely uniform (30 to 40 squeezes). Clip off corner of the Unipak container
and immediately pour into mold fill spout maintaining 1/2-inch head. When a mold is used it may be removed when the compound is no longer tacky or after one and a half hours at 73ºF (23ºC).

3M Scotchcast Reenterable Electrical Insulating Resin 2123 is a soft, two-part polybutadiene resin encapsulant designed especially for reenterable splice protection. Scotchcast 2123 is formulated for
virtually every electrical application requiring a soft, reenterable resin with good handling and performance
characteristics. Scotchcast 2123 is also used as the insulating material for cable splices operating at 1000
volts or less and is rated for continuous use at 194˚F (90˚C) with an overload rating of 266˚F (130˚C). It
may be stocked to cover all reenterable resin needs, ending the need for multiple encapsulant inventories.
This resin is a two-part polybutadiene and is formulated with excellent wetting properties and low viscosity. Scotchcast 2123 flows well even at low temperatures, filling the closure and minimizing voids. Resin should be warmer than 40˚F (4.4˚C) for mixing and pouring.
