Precautions:
・Do not use the sensor cable for purposes other than water leak detection.

・Do not use S-1F sensor cable on pipes. ・Use sensor cable S-1FP for the the pipes.
・Avoid installing in a location subject to heavy condensation.
・Please keep the sensor cable length within 100m.

・ Please control the length including the sensor cable within 150m when using jumper wires to connect the detector and the sensor cable.
・Use shielded jumper wire where external electromagnetic induction may occur.
・This sensor cable is designed based on the characteristics of 3M leak detectors. When using in combination with a leak detector manufactured by other companies, be sure to confirm with the manufacturer of the leak detector and check the operation after installing the sensor cable.
・The exposed surface of concrete absorbs moisture. When the amount of water leakage is less than the amount of absorption, it is impossible to detect the leakage and the waterproofing treatment is recommended.
・Installation of the sensor cable by using SS-6 stickers to secure the sensor cable at intervals of 20-40cm so that it is stay to the ground.
・When attaching the sticker SS-6, try to avoid the opening ( electrodes ) of the sensor cable.
・After installation, make sure that the sensor cable stay on the floor.
・When using self-adhesive adhesives, use synthetic rubber or synthetic resin adhesives. Also, do not use vinyl acetate adhesive (adhesive for concrete, etc.). Vinyl acetate adhesives are hygroscopic and may cause false alarms.

NOTE
1) The S-1F type sensor is not suitable for use in any hazardous location. A hazardous location is defined as an area where the likelihood of flammable, combustible, or explosive concentrations exists.

2) The S-1F type sensor can detect water or liquids that conduct electricity only. It cannot detect alcohol or pure water (under 50 µS/cm), among others.

3) The S-1F type sensor is designed to be used in combination with detectors made by 3M.

4) Do not use the S-1F type sensor in combination with a water leakage detector if the added voltage to the sensor is a DC voltage.

We cannot use a standard multimeter or continuous DC for this 100-meter leak detection cable. A continuous DC voltage will constantly charge the giant distributed capacitance of the long cable, causing measurement delays and unstable readings. Also, it causes electrochemical corrosion on the stainless steel wires when moisture is present.

Instead, the 3M WL-AD-2002-A master unit utilizes Pulsed DC. It sends out a microsecond voltage pulse every 2 seconds. This ultra-fast pulse takes a snapshot of the cable's status before the capacitance can even react. It perfectly bypasses the charging delay, eliminates environmental noise like the several MΩ reading, and prevents wire corrosion, ensuring a 100% stable and accurate detection.

With the use of Pulse signal detection, there is no effect of circuit capacitance impedance, thus the overall length is not limited. However it is recommended to keep the sensor and extension wire within 350M. For more details, please refer to each model’s compatibility table.

5) Do not connect a high voltage source that exceeds 25 volts.

6) Use the S-1F type sensor within 100m (328 feet) per detector.  ( depends on what the main unit is )

7) The maximum length of the S-1F sensor (including the extension wire) is about 150 m (492 feet) per detector.  ( depends on what the main unit is )

8) When installing the detection sensor, use the stickers SS-6.

9) To avoid false alarms from the detector, the sensor and extension wire should be kept at least 20 cm (8 inches) away from any power cables (high voltage circuits over 50 volts).

10) Use the S-1F type sensor at temperatures ranging from -15 to 50 degrees C, under conditions of 90% relative humidity and no dew formation.

11) After the S-1F type sensor is installed, check whether the detector issues a warning when the sensor is wetted by water. (Wipe the sensor dry with a towel after the test.)

12) Before using the S-1F type sensor, read and understand a water leakage detector's instruction manual thoroughly.
